Slightly sweet aroma of malts, hints of dark malt. Very smooth on the palate, but very low carbonation level out of the can so this could be affecting it. Nice blend of malt tastes, with hops hanging just out of reach, but seems like the bitterness bite helps clear the palate. Aftertaste is one of smooth creaminess. Super tasty.
No date on the can, but bought in Colorado, not far from Crested Butte. And this Stout was the predominant offering from this brewery at the liquor store where bought, so may be popular and get good turnover.
Thick dark licorice-like aroma. Heavy chocolate flavor that’s chunky on the palate. Fades to general dark malt flavor, them lingering sugary sweetness.
Slightly hot aroma of the barrel age. Smooth dark chocolate taste with very little bitterness or aftertaste. Further drinks provide aroma and aftertaste of a very rich dark chocolate milkshake- but workout the sweetness.
Fresh, clean aroma with hints of dark malt, but not overly sweet like stout aromas can sometimes be. Taste starts very smooth, then surges in with malt taste complexity and light crisp hop support, then fades to a fresh, dry dark malt flavor. Finishes with a clean palate, but lingering memories of all the taste complexity that was hiding in the last sip.
Thick dark malt aroma. Full flavor of dark malt, but with a crispness to it instead of a sweetness. Flavorful dance of hops and dark malt, never wore sure which one is taking lead. His contribute a nice clean bitterness, not fruity at all. Very inspiring.
Canned on 10/11/2021, tasted on 1/15/2022. Aroma is slightly sharp and dry, almost like roasted peanut shells. Interesting complex flavor balancing a sweet, dark, 10% ABV Stout, and a complex nutty taste.
Maybe a bit too much alcohol heat and peanut flavor for my palate.
Nice even smell of dark malts, but not sweet. Clean crisp taste, that spreads out across the palate smoothly delivering waves of dark malts. Hops remain in background just to cut off any lingering malt flavors. Very clean and drinkable.
Tart cherry aroma, like cough syrup. Taste is very sweet, but no bite from dark malt. Super sweet. Need to let this warm up to see if the character changes…
Warmer is mellower on the raspberry. But still super sweet and cloying.
