Dark, sweet aroma. Very strong dark malt taste almost like coffee. Despite that heavy dark taste, it quickly steps down and fades out leaving hints of hops mixed with the dark malt. Much darker and heavier than the Alts I had in Dusseldorf.

Moderate sweet smell with a bit of hoppiness. Full flavored sweetness that finishes off with a combination of hops, malt, and flavor of high alcohol. Aftertaste is a bit sweet, slightly harsh. Calls itself an Imperial Red IPA. Not sure which word the imperial goes with. Flavor-wise, I think it’s an imperial red that’s also hoppy.

Sweet lager smell, almost like old gym clothes. Slightly harsh goods taste with a strange flavor on the back end. That’s replaced by a malt flavor that fades out slowly as the hop harshness fades into the background. Overall a bit harsh. The lager yeast and the hop bitterness don’t mix well together.

Mild dark chocolate/malt aroma. Smooth taste of dark chocolate with an aftertaste of malt. Fades out quickly and leaves you with a hint of malt.

Light lager-like aroma. Sweet taste that has a clean malty nutty-like flavor. Leaves little aftertaste other than that nut/malt flavor. Flavor comes out a bit more as it warms, may have started too cold. Says packaged on 12 11 13 at 10:37, but I’m drinking it on December 8th. Ymmv. Batch 3341.

Slight hop aroma, slight dry grain aroma. Mild sweet flavor with a slight hop flavor mixed with a kind of orange juice flavor. Slight fruity aftertaste which fades quickly. Of course after I get it home and read the bottle closely, our says best by Apr 09 12. Today is Dec 08 12, so I missed that by 8 months. I’m sure that doesn’t help…

Very sweet smell, makes your nosebuds pucker- if that’s something that can actually happen. Can smell hints of the bourbon barrel. Taste initially is slightly harsh, but the mellowing effect of the barrel kicks in and smooths out out. Leaves a slight bourbon/malt aftertaste. Not too strong of bourbon, but if you can’t stand it you might want to avoid this one.

Served in the special Sam Adams glass. Nice fresh, slightly sweet smell. Great full malt flavor with a nice hop bite on the back end of it. Fades out slowly and leaves you with a clean grainy hop taste.
The only way to go with Sam Adams is on tap. Out of a bottle doesn’t do it justice. But beware- a lot of the time on tap it can be too sweet and without that fresh hop bite. Or maybe this custom glass really rocks!

Double milk stout by description. Sweet, dry aroma with hints if dark malt flavor waiting. Sharp sweet taste, immediately followed by a very strong dark malt flavor. Malt flavor fades out slowly. Street hitting hard and sweet up front, the dark malt comes in and balances out fairly well. You don’t really notice the high alcohol content.
